Itero’s Brightlands Demonstration Plant receives building and environmental permits
Full press release
In collaboration with Brightlands Chemelot Campus, we are pleased to announce we have received the building and environmental permits for our upcoming Demonstration Plant, allowing for the construction and operation of the plant.
Using pyrolysis technology to keep mixed plastic waste in the circular economy, our Demonstration Plant will be based at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen, Limburg, the Netherlands (‘Brightlands’). Once constructed, the plant will process up to 27kt per annum of mixed plastic waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill or incineration.
The permits allow for a wide range of feedstock to be tested, showcasing the iterative approach we take with our technology.
Sieto Schenkel, Project Manager at Itero, said, “There is great excitement for our technology, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with Brightlands Chemelot Campus and Brightlands Circular Space to progress our circular and sustainable impact”.
Our plant has recently been awarded EUR 5m from the European Union’s Just Transition Fund, a fund designed to support a fair and equitable transition to a climate-neutral economy.
