Itero’s Brightlands Demonstration Plant receives building and environmental permits
Itero Technologies, in collaboration with Brightlands Chemelot Campus, has received the building and environmental permits for the Itero Brightlands Demonstration plant, allowing its construction and operation.
What role should chemical recycling play in the UN Plastics Treaty?
At Itero, we believe that a key component to tackling the plastics crisis involves taking a circular approach, shifting away from our current linear consumption model. When executed responsibly as one of many elements within a broader systemic approach to plastic management, extensive lifecycle analysis research has shown that chemical recycling can and will contribute significantly to mitigating the plastics crisis.
A Day in the Life with Our Investment Analyst, Xinxin Zhang
We sat down to have a chat with our investment analyst, Xinxin Zhang about how her day-to-day work fits into the company’s mission of creating solutions for a sustainable and circular carbon economy
Itero awarded €5m from EU’s Just Transition Fund

Designing for a Circular Economy
Central to addressing the plastic waste problem are the principles of the waste hierarchy - reduce, reuse, and recycle. As plastic will continue to play an important role in the economy, we are faced with technical and systemic challenges across all areas of the waste hierarchy. Yet for all the challenges we face, it is critical to find circular pathways for plastics.
Do beach cleans really make a difference?
This Monday Itero participated in the Great British Beach Clean, a nation-wide initiative organized by The Marine Conservation Society, which encourages individuals and organisations to clean up UK’s beaches. More than just a reactive measure against coastal pollution, the beach clean proactively drives policy change towards a circular economy.
Itero and Brightlands take next steps for chemical recycling demonstration plant
Itero Technologies progress the delivery of their chemical recycling demonstration plant, signing the commercial realisation agreement for the plant with Brightlands Chemelot Campus.
A day in the life at our West London pilot plant
We sat down with Alexis Delich, R&D Chemical Engineer, for a conversation about his approach to work and how it supports the scaling of our technology and circular solutions for plastics. He shares his journey leading up to joining Itero and how the technology tested at the pilot plant sets the stage for larger-scale chemical recycling projects.
Chemical recycling in the waste hierarchy
What is the waste hierarchy and where does chemical recycling fit?
The blog post discusses the waste hierarchy, how chemical recycling fits within it, and how each contribute to a circular economy. Chemical recycling helps us move towards a circular plastics economy by taking end of life plastics and creating valuable circular products. While chemical recycling is an important part of the transition to circular plastics, the waste hierarchy is integral for framing how chemical recycling fits into the bigger system of materials.
Announcing our Advisory Panel
Itero Technologies announces the creation of our Advisory Panel to support our strategic development and help drive our circular economy growth ambitions. The five members of the Advisory Panel will provide guidance and insights from their highly experienced careers across diverse industries.

We have been awarded a €240k (~£210k) grant from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. The funds will be applied towards the demonstration plant of Itero’s recycling process that can manage plastic waste streams otherwise destined for landfill or incineration, due to the diversity of plastics and high levels of contamination.
Constant improvement: Delivering commercial progress through research and development
Research and development (R&D) is crucial to our long-term success, because if nothing good comes easily, it also doesn’t come immediately. In 2020, Itero completed commissioning our R&D plant in Iver, Buckinghamshire. Despite several challenges along the way, we have made great progress so far.
